Peschici, the magical Pearl of the Gargano
Located on the rock, overlooking the sea like a siren, at the highest point of the Gargano, Peschici is an internationally appreciated tourist resort. The ancient village was born as an ancient settlement of the Dalmatian Slav people. The name Peschici, in fact, has Slavic origins and means “fine sand”. Just 30 nautical miles from the spectacular Tremiti Islands, it has been repeatedly awarded the “BLUE FLAG” by the Foundation for Environmental Education. The landscape is full of countless bays and coves, trebuchets and towers, rock formations and caves, luxuriant vegetation and beaches of fine sand. The picturesque old town is one of Peschici’s most famous area. Enclosed within medieval walls, partly demolished and partly transformed into houses, it is crossed by alleys, squares, courtyards, stairways, narrow passages, arches and above all houses, characterized by different architectural styles, witness of different influences and historical dominations .
